Jake Whitman

Hi, I'm Jake! I am a senior Acting and Creative Writing major at Elon University, working to pursue both acting and writing professionally. Aside from my career pursuits, my passions include reading, enjoying the company of friends, and dungeons and dragons. After college, I plan on staying on the East Coast to write and start looking for acting work.

My Story

The one thing that always mystified and fascinated me the most about live theatre is it's ability to transform both the audience and the actor with every new performance. In my own experience, I can't think of anything more formative in my growth as a human being than the performing arts.

I started acting at the age of ten through a community theatre program in my hometown, which I continued to do alongside high school performances in both plays and musicals.

After being accepted to Elon University's Acting program I began my formal training and had the opportunity to perform, understudying the role of Captain Brice in Arcadia in 2018, and playing Ross in a production of Macbeth in the Spring of 2021.

It was also at Elon that I gained valuable experience as a teaching assistant, and fell in love with helping others grow as performers.

I credit all of these experiences and the mentors I have had along the way with helping me grow into the curious and vulnerable person I am today, and I can't wait to see how every new opportunity might change and inspire me.

I am always looking to meet and work with new people! Please get in touch with me if you have any questions or opportunities to discuss.
